What Are Project Views?

Updated 2026-08-11·10 min read

TL;DR: Taskade projects support 9 views on the same underlying data. Four sit in the toolbar as tabs (List, Board, Table, Mind Map) and five live under More Views (Docs, Gantt Chart, Calendar, Actionsheet, Org Chart). Switching never duplicates data, so one project can be a kanban for engineers, a calendar for marketing, and a database for ops, all at once.

What are project views?

Taskade projects support 9 views on the same underlying data. Switching views never duplicates data. One project can be a kanban for engineers, a calendar for marketing, and a spreadsheet for ops, all at once.

Pick the view that matches the job in front of you:

View Best for Where to find it
List Outlines, writing, meeting notes Toolbar tab
Board Kanban pipelines, sprint boards Toolbar tab
Table Databases, CRMs, structured data Toolbar tab
Mind Map Brainstorming, strategy Toolbar tab
Docs (Beta) Long-form docs and specs More Views
Gantt Chart Dependencies, timelines More Views, paid plan
Calendar Scheduling, content calendars More Views
Actionsheet Simple spreadsheet-style lists More Views, paid plan
Org Chart Teams, decision trees More Views, paid plan

Gantt Chart, Actionsheet, and Org Chart need a paid plan. Everything else works on Free.

One project, many views

Overview

Taskade stores your tasks and notes in a tree-structured database that allows you and your team to work the way you feel the most productive. Each project view offers a unique way of visualizing and interacting with your project data.

There are nine project views you can choose from. Four are tabs in the toolbar:

  • 📄 List / Outline view: Hierarchical task organization with unlimited nesting
  • 🎛️ Board / Kanban view: Visual-first workflow organization
  • 📊 Table view: Advanced spreadsheet interface with filtering and grouping
  • 🧠 Mind Map view: Visual brainstorming with radial, tree-like idea connections

Five more sit under the More Views menu:

  • 📝 Docs view (Beta): A document-style canvas for long-form writing
  • ⏱️ Gantt Chart view: Timeline visualization for precise project planning (paid plan)
  • 🗓️ Calendar view: Traditional calendar scheduling with deadline management
  • 🗂️ Actionsheet view: A simplified spreadsheet-style list (paid plan)
  • 👥 Org Chart view: Hierarchical structure display for teams and processes (paid plan)

Note on Timeline: The timeline is the horizontal scrolling component inside the Gantt Chart view, not a standalone view. See Timeline in Gantt View.

The Origami Method

In Origami, you're always working with paper while shaping it. In Taskade, you're always working with a project while switching between project views. The project data itself doesn't change, only how you view it. That's the name: project views.

💡 Note: Visit Origami Method for Project Management to learn more.

Change Project Views

  • Open a project.
  • Click List, Board, Table, or Mind Map in the toolbar.
  • For the other five views, open More Views and pick one.
  • Double-click a view icon to set it as default.

Open More Views and you get the remaining five:

The project toolbar reshapes the same tasks into any of the 9 views. Here three launch tasks appear as Board cards (left) and Table rows (right). In the live app List / Board / Table / Mind Map are direct tabs; Docs, Gantt Chart, Calendar, Actionsheet, and Org Chart sit under More Views:

Frequently Asked Questions

How many project views does Taskade offer?

Taskade gives you 9 project views on the same data: List, Board, Table, Mind Map, Docs (Beta), Gantt Chart, Calendar, Actionsheet, and Org Chart. The timeline is part of the Gantt Chart view, not a separate view.

Does switching views duplicate my tasks?

No. All 9 views read from the same underlying project data, so switching never copies or splits anything. One project can be a kanban board for engineers and a database for ops at the same time.

How do I change a project view?

Open a project and use the buttons at the top to pick a view. Double-click a view icon to set it as the default. List, Board, Table, and Mind Map appear as toolbar tabs. Docs, Gantt Chart, Calendar, Actionsheet, and Org Chart sit under More Views.

Which view is best for a database or CRM?

Use the Table view for spreadsheet-style data with filtering and grouping, or the Custom Fields feature to add structured data to any view. Both are ideal for tracking leads, contacts, and reporting.

Which project views are included on the Free plan?

Free gives you List, Board, Table, Mind Map, Docs (Beta), and Calendar. Gantt Chart, Actionsheet, and Org Chart need a paid plan. Paid plans start at $10/month billed annually and add more workspaces, members, and AI capacity. See pricing for the full breakdown.

How do project views connect to AI agents and automations?

Project data is the Memory layer of Workspace DNA. Your AI agents read that data as Intelligence, and automations act on it as Execution, so the view you pick feeds the same tasks your agents and automations work with.
