Overview
Connect Resend to Taskade so your automations can send email from your own domain. Send one message or a batch, keep contacts current, and react when an email is delivered, bounced, opened, or clicked.
TL;DR: Resend connects to Taskade automations with an API key. The New Event trigger starts an automation when an email is delivered, bounced, opened, or clicked, or a contact or domain changes. Actions send one email or a batch, read an email, and manage contacts and segments. Resend steps need Pro and up.
Before You Start
- What you need: A Resend account with a verified domain and a Taskade workspace
- Plan: Pro and up. On Free and Starter, the Resend steps show a PRO badge and open the upgrade page.
- Time: About 5 minutes
Step 1: Create a Resend API Key
- Sign in at resend.com, and open API Keys.
- Select Create API Key.
- Pick Full access to use the contact and segment actions. A Sending access key can only send email.
- Copy the key. It starts with
re_.
Step 2: Connect Resend in Taskade
Taskade stores the connection for the whole workspace, so every automation that uses Resend reuses it.
- Open Automations in your workspace, and click Create.
- Add a trigger or a step, and search for Resend.
- Click Connect.
- Paste the key into API Key.
- Save the connection. Taskade tests it with Resend before it saves it.
Step 3: Pick a Trigger or an Action
Pick a Resend trigger to start an automation, or add a Resend action after any trigger. See Automation Triggers and Automation Actions for the Taskade steps that you can combine with them.
| Trigger | Starts the automation when |
|---|---|
| New Event | A Resend event that you pick occurs: an email is delivered, bounced, opened, or clicked, or a contact or domain changes. |
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Send Email | Sends one email from an address on a domain that you verified in Resend. |
| Send Batch Emails | Sends the same email to up to 100 recipients. Each recipient gets a separate email. |
| Get Email | Reads one sent email, with its latest delivery status. |
| Create Contact | Adds a contact, and optionally adds it to one segment. |
| List Contacts | Lists contacts from all contacts or from one segment. |
| Delete Contact | Deletes a contact by email address or contact ID. |
| Create Segment (Audience) | Creates a segment, a named group of contacts for broadcasts. Segments replaced Audiences in Resend. |
You are done when a test email arrives from your verified Resend domain, or a test event starts the automation.
Build Your First Resend Automation
Start from one of these patterns, then add your own steps.
| Goal | Trigger | Steps that follow |
|---|---|---|
| Reply to a request | A form submission | Generate with AI for a reply, then Send Email |
| Follow up on bounces | New Event for a bounced email | Add Task for the account owner |
| Send a weekly update | Schedule | Summarize with AI, then Send Batch Emails to the team |
To describe an automation in plain words instead, ask Taskade EVE in your workspace. For example:
Build an automation that uses Resend. When the trigger fires, add a task with the details to a project that I pick. Do not add any other steps yet.
The last sentence of the prompt keeps the first draft small, so you can test one step before you add more.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my key fail on the contact actions?
A Sending access key can only send email. Create a Full access key to use the contact and segment actions.
Which address can I send from?
Send from an address on a domain that you verified in Resend. Each run of Send Email sends a new email.
