Microsoft To Do Integration

Updated 2026-10-17·5 min read

Overview

Connect Microsoft To Do to Taskade so your personal task lists and your team projects stay in step. A new or completed task can start an automation, and any automation can write tasks back to To Do.

TL;DR: Microsoft To Do connects to Taskade automations when you sign in with your Microsoft account. Triggers start an automation when a task is added to a list or completed. Actions create, update, complete, delete, read, and find tasks, and create or list task lists. These steps need Pro and up.

Before You Start

  • What you need: A Microsoft account that uses Microsoft To Do and a Taskade workspace
  • Plan: Pro and up. On Free and Starter, the Microsoft To Do steps show a PRO badge and open the upgrade page.
  • Time: About 5 minutes

Step 1: Prepare Your Microsoft Account

  1. Make sure that you can sign in to Microsoft To Do with the account that you want to connect.
  2. Make sure that the lists that you want to use already exist, or plan to create them with the Create Task List action.

Step 2: Connect Microsoft To Do in Taskade

Taskade stores the connection for the whole workspace, so every automation that uses Microsoft To Do reuses it.

  1. Open Automations in your workspace, and click Create.
  2. Add a trigger or a step, and search for Microsoft To Do.
  3. Click Connect.
  4. Sign in with your Microsoft account, and allow access. The connection asks for task access only, so it never gets access to your mail.

Step 3: Pick a Trigger or an Action

Pick a Microsoft To Do trigger to start an automation, or add a Microsoft To Do action after any trigger. See Automation Triggers and Automation Actions for the Taskade steps that you can combine with them.

Trigger Starts the automation when
New Task in List A task is added to the Microsoft To Do list that you pick. Checks every 15 minutes.
Task Completed A task in the list that you pick is marked completed. Checks every 15 minutes.
Action What it does
Create Task Adds a task to a list, with an optional note, due date, and importance.
Update Task Changes a task by its ID. Only the fields that you fill in change.
Complete Task Marks a task as completed.
Delete Task Deletes a task by its ID. A delete cannot be undone.
Get Task Reads one task by its ID: title, status, note, due date, and importance.
Find Tasks Lists the tasks in a list, filtered by title text or status.
Create Task List Creates a list. If a list with the same name exists, it returns that list.
List Task Lists Lists the task lists of the connected account.

You are done when a test task in your Microsoft To Do list starts the automation within 15 minutes and the task shows in Taskade.

Build Your First Microsoft To Do Automation

Start from one of these patterns, then add your own steps.

Goal Trigger Steps that follow
Send personal tasks to the team New Task in List Add Task to a shared Taskade project
Close the loop A Taskade task is completed Find Tasks by title, then Complete Task in To Do
Plan the week Schedule Find Task(s) in Taskade, then Create Task in a To Do list for each one in a Loop

To describe an automation in plain words instead, ask Taskade EVE in your workspace. For example:

Build an automation that uses Microsoft To Do. When the trigger fires, add a task with the details to a project that I pick. Do not add any other steps yet.

The last sentence of the prompt keeps the first draft small, so you can test one step before you add more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the connection read my email?

No. The Microsoft To Do connection asks for task access only, so it never gets access to your mail.
