Overview
Connect Cal.com to Taskade so each booking starts an automation. A new, cancelled, or moved meeting can create prep tasks, alert your team, and update a project, with no copy and paste.
TL;DR: Cal.com connects to Taskade automations with an API key. Three triggers start an automation when a booking is created, cancelled, or rescheduled. Actions read, list, cancel, and reschedule bookings and list your event types. Turn each meeting into prepared tasks. Cal.com steps need Pro and up.
Before You Start
- What you need: A Cal.com account and a Taskade workspace
- Plan: Pro and up. On Free and Starter, the Cal.com steps show a PRO badge and open the upgrade page.
- Time: About 5 minutes
Step 1: Create a Cal.com API Key
- Sign in at app.cal.com.
- Open Settings, then Developer, then API Keys.
- Click New, and name the key, for example "Taskade".
- Choose an expiry, and save the key.
- Copy the key. It starts with
cal_, and Cal.com shows it only once.
Step 2: Connect Cal.com in Taskade
Taskade stores the connection for the whole workspace, so every automation that uses Cal.com reuses it.
- Open Automations in your workspace, and click Create.
- Add a trigger or a step, and search for Cal.com.
- Click Connect.
- Paste the key into API Key.
- Save the connection. Taskade tests it with Cal.com before it saves it.
Step 3: Pick a Trigger or an Action
Pick a Cal.com trigger to start an automation, or add a Cal.com action after any trigger. See Automation Triggers and Automation Actions for the Taskade steps that you can combine with them.
| Trigger | Starts the automation when |
|---|---|
| Booking Created | Someone books a meeting with you on Cal.com. |
| Booking Cancelled | A Cal.com booking is cancelled. |
| Booking Rescheduled | A Cal.com booking moves to a new time. |
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| List Bookings | Lists bookings, filtered by status, attendee email, event type, or date range. |
| Get Booking | Reads one booking by its UID, with its time, status, hosts, and attendees. |
| Cancel Booking | Cancels a booking by its UID. Cal.com emails the attendees. |
| Reschedule Booking | Moves a booking to a new start time. Cal.com emails the attendees. |
| List Event Types | Lists the meeting types of the account, with their ID, title, and length. |
You are done when a test booking in Cal.com starts the automation and the new task shows in your project.
Build Your First Cal.com Automation
Start from one of these patterns, then add your own steps.
| Goal | Trigger | Steps that follow |
|---|---|---|
| Prepare each meeting | Booking Created | Create Project From Template, then Assign Task to the host |
| Clean up a cancelled call | Booking Cancelled | Find Task(s) for that meeting, then Mark Task as Completed |
| Keep dates current | Booking Rescheduled | Update Custom Fields on the meeting task with the new time |
To describe an automation in plain words instead, ask Taskade EVE in your workspace. For example:
Build an automation that uses Cal.com. When the trigger fires, add a task with the details to a project that I pick. Do not add any other steps yet.
The last sentence of the prompt keeps the first draft small, so you can test one step before you add more.

Why does Cal.com return a new booking ID after a reschedule?
