Organize Your Second Brain
Building a second brain in Taskade is intuitive.
There are three levels of organization:
- Workspace: This is the top level of your second brain. A workspace can contain many folders, each with its own projects and templates. Use one workspace for your entire life, or two or three workspaces to separate work from personal topics.
- Folder: Your brain dedicates certain areas to specific topics. A folder in Taskade does the same for one aspect of your life.
- Project: Think of a project as a blank canvas for all your notes, ideas, plans, schedules, tasks, and even mind maps.

Create Your Second Brain
You can organize your second brain in many ways. Start with the basics:
- Open Taskade and click ➕ in the sidebar on the left.
Name your workspace and choose an accent color.
Pick an emoji or upload your own icon.
Inside your workspace, click the ➕ New Folder button.
Name your folder and choose an accent color.

Add a New Note
Starting a new note is like opening a new page in your mind's notebook.
- Open your workspace/folder.
- Click ➕ New Project (top-right corner).
- Open your new note and start typing!

Add Backlinks to Your Notes
Adding backlinks to your notes makes it easier to see how ideas relate and flow together.
Choose a paragraph or task where you want to add a backlink.
Type @ followed by the title of the target note.
Select the target note to create a backlink.
Chat with Your Notes
Engage in interactive conversations with your notes to extract valuable insights or develop your thoughts and ideas.
Open the AI Chat in your project.
Select Ask Project from the drop-down list at the top.
Start asking questions!
A Second Brain That Acts
Traditional second-brain tools (Obsidian, Roam, Logseq, Notion) store notes beautifully. But notes that sit there do not help you get work done. Taskade adds two layers on top of your notes, so your brain is not only searchable. It is active:
