Overview

A Workspace is a collection of folders, projects, and templates. Workspaces can be used to organize your company, departments, and teams. You can also invite your clients and other groups of people you want to collaborate with in real-time. Each workspace acts as an independent container with its own members, permissions, and billing settings.

How to Create a Workspace

  1. Click the + icon in the left sidebar or go to your workspace list.
  2. Enter a name for the new workspace.
  3. (optional) Add a description and customize the workspace icon.
  4. Click Create to finish.

You can create multiple workspaces, for example, one per department, client, or project team. Switch between workspaces using the workspace selector in the top-left corner.

How to Manage a Workspace

  • Invite members: Click the ˅ arrow next to your workspace name and select 👥 Members to add teammates. See Invite Members for details.
  • Set permissions: Each member can be assigned one of seven roles: Owner, Maintainer, Editor, Commenter, Collaborator, Participant, or Viewer. Visit User Roles and Permissions for a full breakdown.
  • Transfer ownership: You can assign the Owner role to another member at any time. See Transfer Workspace Ownership.
  • Upgrade your plan: Activate a paid plan on a specific workspace from Settings → Billing. Learn more in How to Upgrade.

Archive a Workspace

Archiving hides a workspace from the sidebar without deleting any of its projects, agents, or automations. Useful when a client engagement wraps up, a quarter ends, or a side project goes quiet.

  1. Open the workspace you want to archive.
  2. Click the ˅ arrow next to the workspace name in the top bar.
  3. Pick Archive workspace.
  4. A confirmation dialog opens with the title Archive workspace? Read the short summary of what will happen.
  5. Confirm. The workspace moves to your archive and disappears from the sidebar.

You can restore an archived workspace at any time from your workspace list. Everything comes back exactly as you left it.

💡 Why the confirm step? Archiving is reversible, but the dialog is intentional friction. It prevents accidental archives when you meant to switch workspaces or close a tab.

Workspace DNA

Every Taskade workspace has a unique Workspace DNA, a living intelligence layer that connects your projects, agents, and automations. As you work, your workspace learns your patterns, preferences, and domain knowledge, making every tool smarter over time.

ℹ️

The Three Pillars: Workspace DNA is built on Memory (Projects & Databases), Intelligence (Custom AI Agents), and Execution (Automations). Learn more in the Workspace DNA guide.

Tips

  • Use folders inside a workspace to group related projects by topic, sprint, or client.
  • Pin frequently used projects to the top of a workspace for quick access.
  • Every workspace has its own set of AI agents and automations, so you can tailor intelligence to each team's needs.
