Overview

Auto top-up automatically purchases additional AI credits when your balance runs out. It is optional and can be disabled at any time. This article explains how it works, how to turn it off, and how to handle unexpected charges.

TL;DR: Auto top-up buys credits when your balance hits zero. Disable it at Settings → Billing → toggle Auto Top-Up OFF. On mobile/iPad, use a desktop browser. For refunds on unexpected charges, contact support within 14 days with your Stripe receipt.

What Is Auto Top-Up?

When enabled, auto top-up purchases a credit pack automatically the moment your AI credit balance reaches zero. The charge goes to the card on file via Stripe, and each top-up appears as a separate line item on your receipt.

Auto top-up ensures uninterrupted AI usage — but it can result in unexpected charges if you're not monitoring your credit consumption.

How to Disable Auto Top-Up

  1. Go to Settings → Billing.
  2. Find the Auto Top-Up section.
  3. Toggle it OFF.
  4. You'll see a confirmation: "Auto Top-Up: Disabled."

Once disabled, AI features will pause when credits run out instead of charging your card. You can still buy credit packs manually at any time.

Known Limitation: Mobile / iPad

The auto top-up toggle is not currently visible on mobile or iPad interfaces. To disable auto top-up:

Unexpected Charges — What to Do

If you see an auto top-up charge you didn't expect:

  1. Check your usage at Settings → Usage to see what consumed your credits
  2. Disable auto top-up immediately using the steps above
  3. Contact support at taskade.com/contact within 14 days of the charge
  4. Include your email address, approximate charge date, and charge amount (or Stripe receipt)

Unused credits from auto top-up charges can be reviewed for refund within 14 days.

Spending Controls

  • No spending cap is currently available — disable auto top-up as a workaround
  • Best practice: Disable auto top-up and buy credit packs manually when you need them
  • Monitor usage regularly at Settings → Usage
  • Use lighter AI models (Gemini Flash, Claude Haiku) for routine tasks to stretch credits further

A spending cap feature is not yet available. The best workaround is to disable auto top-up and purchase credit packs manually.
