Overview
When your balance reaches the threshold you set, auto top-up buys more AI credits on any paid plan. It is optional, and you can turn it off at any time.
Auto top-up is available on every paid plan. The control is not shown on Free. Open Settings → Usage and find the AI Credits card to check your account.

Understand auto top-up.
On any paid plan, auto top-up buys a credit pack at the balance threshold you set. The charge goes to the card on file through Stripe. Each top-up appears as a separate line item on your receipt.
Auto top-up keeps AI work running without a pause. If you do not watch credit use, it can also bring charges you did not expect.
Turn Off Auto Top-Up
- Go to Settings → Usage.
- Find the Auto Top-Up row inside the AI Credits card.
- Turn the switch off.
After you turn it off, the account makes no new automatic pack purchases. If you want to buy a pack by hand, click Buy Credits on the same card. You can also open credit packs while signed in.
Adjust the Top-Up Amount
If you want to keep auto top-up on and control spend, set the refill amount. You do not have to choose between the default pack and the off switch.
- Go to Settings → Usage.
- Find the Auto Top-Up row inside the AI Credits card.
- Click Modify and set the refill amount you want.
Each automatic charge now matches the amount you picked. This avoids oversized top-ups.
Find the Control
If the purchase controls are missing, open Taskade in a web browser. These Taskade builds hide the auto top-up switch, the Buy Credits button, and the link to the payment portal:
- The Taskade app for iOS and Android
- Taskade installed from the Mac App Store or the Microsoft Store
Those stores do not allow us to sell digital goods through our own checkout. The controls stay hidden rather than fail. To change the setting, open taskade.com/settings/usage in a web browser such as Chrome, Safari, or Firefox.
Review Unexpected Charges
If you see an auto top-up charge you did not expect:
- Check your usage at Settings → Usage to see what spent your credits.
- Turn auto top-up off right away with the steps in this guide.
- Contact support at taskade.com/contact about a charge made in error.
- Include your email address, approximate charge date, and charge amount (or Stripe receipt).
Credits that you buy never expire. An unused balance stays on your account for future AI runs. See the Terms of Service for the full billing terms. If a charge looks wrong, contact support within 30 days. We will review it.
Set Spending Controls
- No spending cap is available yet. Turn auto top-up off as a workaround.
- Best practice: To approve every pack purchase, turn auto top-up off.
- Monitor usage regularly at Settings → Usage.
- Use lighter AI models for routine tasks to stretch credits further. Lighter, faster models cost fewer credits than the top-tier ones.
Answer Common Questions
Can I set a monthly spending limit?
A spending cap is not available yet. To approve every pack purchase, turn auto top-up off.
Does auto top-up only charge once?
Auto top-up can charge each time your balance reaches the threshold you set. If you spend credits fast, several charges can land in a single billing period.
I disabled auto top-up but was still charged.
Check the charge date. The charge can process before you turn auto top-up off. If it processed after you turned auto top-up off, contact support with your Stripe receipt.
I bought a credit top-up but do not see the credits.
Topped-up credits land in Usage credits and appear at Settings → Usage. Taskade spends Monthly credits first, then uses purchased or earned Usage credits. The two pools appear separately. Monthly credits reset each billing cycle. Usage credits do not expire. If a top-up looks missing, examine the Usage credits balance and recent activity before you buy again.
