Import a Web Page or Video Link

Updated 2026-09-15·5 min read

Overview

Bring a web page or a YouTube video into Taskade as text you can work with. Paste the link once. Taskade reads the page, saves the readable text with its title, and lets you turn it into a project, agent knowledge, chat context, or the brief for an app.

TL;DR: Paste a web page or YouTube URL into Media Files with the Import option. Taskade saves the title, description, and readable text as a media item. From there, click Create project, add it as agent knowledge, or paste your website URL at /create to start an app. Images, layout, and downloads do not come across.

How the Import Works

Taskade saves the readable text of the page, not the page itself. The link becomes a media item you can reuse across your workspace, like any file in Media Files.

Save any public web page or YouTube video as a media item. Every plan can do this.

  1. Open your workspace and click Media Files in the side panel.
  2. Click the + button.
  3. Choose Import (the link icon). The Add Link dialog opens.
  4. Paste the page or video URL into the field.
  5. Click Add.

Taskade reads the page and saves it as a media item with its title, description, and extracted text. For a YouTube video, Taskade saves the transcript text.

The same + menu holds Upload File for files on your device and Upload from Cloud, which is available on paid plans.

If the address is not a full URL, Taskade shows Invalid URL. Correct the address and click Add again. If Taskade cannot read the page, it shows Failed to extract content from the URL. Please try again. Try the link again later, or copy the text and paste it into a project instead.

Turn a Saved Page into a Project

Turn the extracted text into a project you can edit, assign, and open in any project view.

  1. In Media Files, find the saved page or video.
  2. Click its ... menu.
  3. Click Create project.

Taskade opens a new project built from the extracted text. The same menu also holds Resync AI, Edit, and Delete.

Create project appears on web pages, YouTube videos, and documents such as a PDF. It does not appear on image files. Uploading a PDF or other document is available on paid plans. See Import PDF.

Give an AI agent the page as a knowledge source. The agent answers from that text instead of guessing.

  1. Open the agent editor for the agent you want to train. See Custom AI Agents.
  2. To use a page you already saved, pick the media item and click Add to knowledge.
  3. To add a new page, click Add Link, paste the URL into the Type or paste a URL field, and click Add to knowledge.

A knowledge source has its own menu with Retrain, Convert to project, and Remove. To send a whole project instead, open the project's ... menu and choose Add to Agent Knowledge.

A Free workspace can attach one knowledge source per agent. Paid plans allow more. See Agent Knowledge & Memory for the full picture.

Give Taskade EVE a page to read during a conversation. This option is available on paid plans. A Free workspace sees an upgrade prompt.

  1. Open a Taskade EVE chat in your workspace.
  2. Click the + button and choose Add from Links.
  3. Pick Webpage or YouTube Video as the content type.
  4. Paste the URL and confirm. The button reads Extracting... while Taskade reads the page.

Taskade EVE uses the extracted text as context for the chat. The saved link also appears in Media Files, so you can reuse it later.

Start an App from Your Website

Your website is the prompt. Taskade EVE can read a page and use it as the brief for the app it builds.

  1. Go to /create.
  2. Paste your website URL into the prompt.
  3. Describe what the app must do, then send the prompt.

Taskade EVE reads the page and builds the app from that brief. It does not import the site's layout, images, or files. See Your First Taskade Genesis Prompt for prompt tips.

What Comes Across

Content Imported What to do instead
Readable text Yes
Page title and description Yes
YouTube transcript Yes
Images and logos No Save them and add them with Upload File
Page layout and design No Rebuild the structure inside the project
Downloads and attached files No Download them and add them with Upload File

Taskade reads one page per link. There is no option to import a whole website at once. Add each page you need as its own link.

Imported text becomes part of your Workspace DNA. Your AI agents can learn from it, and your automations can act on it.
