A Google Calendar to Slack automation posts your agenda to a Slack channel every morning. In this Taskade flow, Taskade AI reads the day's events, lists the meetings in time order, flags overlaps, and names the meeting to prepare for, so you read the whole day in one message.
What does the Google Calendar to Slack automation do?
The Google Calendar to Slack automation posts your agenda to Slack every morning. Taskade AI reads today's Google Calendar events, lists the meetings, flags the overlaps, and names the meeting you need to prepare for.
How does the flow work?
- Trigger: Schedule, Every day. You pick the hour and the time zone, for example 8:00 in New York.
- Step: Google Calendar, List Events. The flow reads the events between the start and the end of the day.
- Step: Taskade AI, Summarize with AI. The AI writes a short agenda, marks overlaps, and picks the meeting that needs prep.
- Step: Slack, Send Channel Message. The agenda posts to the channel you choose.
What lands in Slack?
| Field | Where it comes from | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Agenda | Google Calendar events, in time order | "9:30 Standup, 11:00 Client review, 14:00 Hiring sync" |
| Overlaps | Taskade AI, from event times | "11:00 and 11:15 overlap" |
| Prep note | Taskade AI | "Prepare for the client review: bring the timeline." |
Which plan do you need?
The Google Calendar and Slack steps need a paid Taskade plan. Pro is $10/mo billed annually. Free covers RSS, schedule and Taskade-only automations within its monthly run limit. The AI summary step uses AI credits. On Free, you earn free AI credits with referrals and invites, and you can upgrade any time.
When is another tool the better fit?
Google Calendar to Slack guides show three kinds of tool. Pick by the message you want to read.
| Option | What lands in Slack | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Google Calendar app for Slack | Event reminders, today's schedule, and a status during meetings | Personal reminders |
| An event-start applet | One message as each event starts | A simple alert for each event |
| This Taskade flow | One AI agenda with overlaps and a prep note | A daily briefing for you or a team channel |
If you only want a reminder before each event, Google Calendar's own Slack app sends them one by one. Use this flow when you want one daily message that sums up the day.
How do you set it up?
Step 1: Set the time
Click Build Workflow and choose the hour and the time zone of the daily run.
Step 2: Connect Google Calendar
Pick the calendar and set the List Events window to the current day.
Step 3: Connect Slack
Choose the channel for the agenda, for example your own updates channel or a team channel.
Step 4: Test and turn it on
Run one test, read the agenda in Slack, then turn the automation on.
Frequently asked questions
Can it cover a shared team calendar?
Yes. Point the List Events step at the shared calendar, or add a second List Events step for another calendar.
Can it skip weekends?
Yes. Use the Custom schedule trigger with a weekday cron expression in place of Every day, or add a filter step that stops the run on Saturday and Sunday.
Can it post a weekly view instead?
Yes. Change the schedule to weekly and widen the List Events window to seven days.
Does it change my Slack status?
No. This flow posts one message. The Google Calendar app for Slack handles the status during meetings, and the two work side by side.
Can it post when a meeting is added or moved?
Yes, in a second automation. Start it from the Google Calendar New or Updated Event trigger instead of the daily schedule, and post the change to Slack.
Does the AI summary use credits?
Yes. Each agenda uses AI credits. On Free, you earn free AI credits with referrals and invites, and you can upgrade any time.
