What does this automation do?
Once a week the board is searched and every stale issue is looked at on its own terms, commented on, and the findings written up as a project.
What can you do with it?
- Groom issue by issue instead of scrolling the board
- Leave a comment saying why an issue is still open
- End the week with a written picture of what is stuck
The Steps
This automation runs in 4 steps:
- When Schedule — Every Week
- Then Jira — Search Issues
- Then Loop over each stale issue — Ask Agent, Add Comment
- Then Taskade — Create Project
What makes this different from a Zapier-style flow?
The "Backlog Groomer" step is not a one-off model call. It is a Taskade AI agent that knows your priorities, your definition of done and who owns each area, remembers what it said about this issue in earlier reviews, so every run builds on the last one instead of starting from an empty prompt.
A stateless "ask the model" step forgets everything the moment it returns. An agent keeps its knowledge and its memory between runs, carries its own tools, and can be handed work by other automations.
Who is this automation for?
Built for delivery leads whose backlog grows faster than it is groomed. Once a week the board is searched and every stale issue is looked at on its own terms, commented on, and the findings written up as a project.
