A PDF to chatbot tool lets people ask questions about a document and get answers from its text. Add the PDF to a Taskade custom agent as knowledge, test a few questions, then share the agent by link or as a chat widget on your website. A 60-page manual becomes a bot customers or staff ask in plain words.

Chat With a PDF vs a PDF Chatbot You Share
Most chat-with-PDF tools give one person a private chat next to the file. A PDF chatbot is for other people: you set the instructions once, and customers, students, or staff ask it questions without opening the file.
| What you need | Chat-with-PDF tool | Taskade PDF chatbot |
|---|---|---|
| Who asks | You, next to the file | Anyone with the link or the widget |
| Instructions | Typed in each chat | Saved once, with tone and limits |
| Sources | One PDF per chat | Files, links, notes, and projects together |
| Where it runs | The tool's own site | A share link or a widget on your site |
| Updates | Upload again in each chat | Replace the file once for every user |
How to Turn a PDF Into a Chatbot
Step 1: Create an agent and add the PDF
Create a custom agent, open its Knowledge tab, and upload the PDF. File uploads need a paid plan. On Free, paste the text of the PDF as a Markdown or text note instead.
Step 2: Write instructions and test questions
Tell the agent to answer only from the document, to say when the document does not cover a question, and to name the section it used. Then ask the five questions people ask most and check each answer against the PDF.
Step 3: Share a link or add the widget
Open the Publish tab to share a link or copy the website widget. The knowledge chatbot guide and the agent widget guide show each step.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the chatbot answer only from my PDF?
It uses the PDF as its knowledge. Write instructions that tell it to answer from the document and to say when the document does not cover a question.
Can I chat with more than one PDF?
Yes. Add each file as a knowledge item. Free holds 1 knowledge item per agent, and Pro and up hold 50 knowledge items per agent.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Text-based PDFs give the best answers. For a scanned document, ask a few questions about pages you know and compare the answers with the original before you share the bot.
Can I put the PDF chatbot on my website?
Yes. Copy the widget snippet from the Publish tab and paste it into your site. The same agent also answers from a share link.
Can I update the PDF later?
Yes. Replace the file in the Knowledge tab and the agent answers from the new version.
Is PDF to chatbot free?
Free includes 1 agent with 1 knowledge item. You earn free AI credits with referrals and invites, and you can upgrade any time. File uploads need a paid plan. Pro is $10/month billed annually.
