What does this automation do?
A mention in Slack sends the flow out to an MCP server for the answer, and the agent replies in the thread with what it found.
What can you do with it?
- Answer from the real system instead of from someone’s memory of it
- Reach a tool that has no connector, using the server it already exposes
- Keep the answer in the thread where the question was asked
The Steps
This automation runs in 3 steps:
- When Slack — New Mention
- Then MCP Client — Call Tool
- Then Taskade — Send Message in Agent Chat ("Ops Desk")
What makes this different from a Zapier-style flow?
The "Ops Desk" step is not a one-off model call. It is a Taskade AI agent that knows your internal systems and who owns each one, remembers the lookups people keep asking for, so every run builds on the last one instead of starting from an empty prompt.
A stateless "ask the model" step forgets everything the moment it returns. An agent keeps its knowledge and its memory between runs, carries its own tools, and can be handed work by other automations.
Who is this automation for?
Built for teams whose system of record has no connector yet. A mention in Slack sends the flow out to an MCP server for the answer, and the agent replies in the thread with what it found.
How do you set it up?
