🛡️ Guard the Margin on Every Quote

Turn the way you already price work into an app that sends, chases, and closes quotes on its own. These prompts build the whole estimate loop: a price book you control, a builder that does the arithmetic, a link the customer accepts with one tap, and the follow-up that happens whether or not you remember.

Guard the Margin on Every Quote

Copy

I win work I should have walked away from. Build me a margin guard app. Keep a margin policy project holding a minimum acceptable gross margin per job type and per customer segment, derived from my overhead. As a quote is built, show the cost, the price and the resulting margin live beside each other, updating on every edit. If a quote falls below the floor, block it from being sent and require a named person to override it with a written reason, which is recorded permanently. Add an AI agent that looks at a below-floor quote and tells me specifically what to change, whether that is removing a line, changing a supplier, or adjusting the scope, so the quote can reach the floor without simply raising the headline price. Automate a scheduled monthly report listing every override, who made it and what it cost in margin. Two logins: an estimator who quotes, and an owner who overrides and sets the policy.

Guard the Margin on Every Quote

Check every quote against a margin floor before it is sent, with a live margin figure and a recorded override.

// the spark catches · intelligence awakens · the answer unfolds

Revenue you cannot make money on is worse than no revenue. This checks every quote against a floor before it goes out, and explains what to change.

What's Included

  • A margin floor per job type because a supply job and a service job differ.
  • A live margin figure recalculated as the quote is edited.
  • A hard stop below the floor that needs a person to override it.
  • An assistant that says what to change to reach the floor.

How To Use

  1. Set the floor from real overhead, not from a comfortable round number.
  2. Show margin next to price at all times. Hidden margin gets given away.
  3. Make the override a decision by a named person, recorded.
  4. Review overridden quotes monthly. They are your pricing problem in a list.

Keep the inputs current through the price book manager, and control the leakage with the discount approval matrix.
