⚖️ Check Outputs for Bias and Fairness

Put a sensible process around how your organization uses AI, without stopping anyone getting work done. These prompts build the approval queue, the register of what is running, the log of what each tool actually did, and the policy an assistant checks submissions against. Written for the person who has been asked to own this and given no software to do it with.

Check Outputs for Bias and Fairness

We use AI in decisions that affect people and we have never checked whether it treats them consistently. Build me a fairness review app. For each use case that affects people, let me define in advance the tests to run and the groups to compare, recorded before any results exist so the measures cannot be chosen afterwards to suit the outcome. Record each test run with the date, the sample, the outcome rates by group, and the difference between them. Record findings with a severity, the action taken, and where a difference was reviewed and accepted, the reason and who accepted it. Keep the full history so a trend over time is visible. Add an AI agent that reviews the results, highlights the differences large enough to warrant investigation rather than flagging every variation, and drafts a plain summary of what was tested and what was found for a non technical reader. Make clear the app records the review and does not perform the statistical assessment, which needs a qualified person. Automate two things: a scheduled review reminder per use case at the frequency its risk level requires, and an alert when a result crosses a threshold I set. Three logins: a case owner, a reviewer, and a read only auditor.

Check Outputs for Bias and Fairness

Define fairness tests in advance, compare outcomes across groups, and record findings, actions, and accepted differences.

// the spark catches · intelligence awakens · the answer unfolds

Any AI that affects people needs checking for consistent treatment. This records the tests, the results, and the actions, so fairness is evidenced rather than assumed.

What's Included

  • Tests defined before you run them so results are not chosen afterwards.
  • Outcomes compared across groups on the same measure.
  • Findings and actions recorded including what you decided to accept.
  • An assistant that highlights differences worth investigating.

How To Use

  1. Define the tests in advance. Choosing measures afterwards proves nothing.
  2. Compare outcomes, not intentions.
  3. Record what you accepted and why, not only what you fixed.
  4. Involve someone qualified. This records the work, it does not perform it.

Trigger it from risk assessment, and record actions in the incident register.
