🏷️ Handle Coupons and Discount Codes

Turn the app you built for yourself into something other people pay to use. These prompts add the parts that make a tool into a product: customer sign-in, plans and trials, limits that mean something, a billing lifecycle that handles the awkward cases, and an admin view so you can see who is actually using it. Handle Coupons and Discount Codes

Copy

I gave out discount codes two years ago and I think some are still working. Build me a discount code app. Each code has the code itself, a description, the discount as a percentage or fixed amount, which plans it applies to, whether it is for new customers only, how long the discount lasts such as first month, first year or forever, a total usage limit, a per-customer limit, a start date and a mandatory expiry date. Record every redemption with the customer, the date and the amount discounted. Report per code: redemptions, total revenue given away, and how many of those customers are still active, since discounted customers often churn faster. Add an AI agent that reviews active codes and flags any still running long after their campaign, any with no expiry pressure, and any whose customers retain noticeably worse than average. Automate two things: an alert before a code expires so I can decide deliberately, and a scheduled monthly report of discount given by code. Two logins: an owner who creates codes, and a support user who can apply an existing code but not create one.

Handle Coupons and Discount Codes

Issue discount codes with expiry, usage limits, and rules, then report the revenue given away and retention of discounted customers.

// the spark catches · intelligence awakens · the answer unfolds

Discount codes leak for years after the campaign ended. This gives every code an expiry, a usage limit, and a report showing what it actually cost.

What's Included

  • Codes with expiry and usage limits set at creation.
  • Rules on what a code applies to and to whom.
  • Revenue given away per code which is the number nobody tracks.
  • An assistant that finds codes still running long after the campaign.

How To Use

  1. Give every code an expiry date, always. No exceptions.
  2. Limit total uses as well as uses per customer.
  3. Track the revenue given away, not just redemption count.
  4. Check whether discounted customers stay. Often they do not.

Apply it through billing lifecycle, and check the effect in revenue metrics.
