Google Sheets to App: Build a Web App From a Sheet

Build a web app from your Google Sheet with Taskade Genesis, and keep it in sync with a Google Sheets New Row trigger.

// glass crystallizes · the form transforms · the workspace receives

To turn a Google Sheet into an app, give Taskade Genesis the sheet's rows and describe the app. It builds tables, forms, and a dashboard from your columns. A Google Sheets New Row trigger then adds each new row to the app, so your team keeps filling the sheet and everyone else works in the app.

How to Build an App From Google Sheets

Step 1: Give Taskade Genesis the data

Paste the rows into the Taskade Genesis prompt box, or attach an export of the sheet, then describe who uses the app. File uploads need a paid plan, so on Free you paste the rows.

Step 2: Review the tables, forms, and dashboard

Taskade Genesis builds tables, forms, and a dashboard from the columns. Check that each column became the right field type.

Step 3: Connect Google Sheets to keep it in sync

Connect Google Sheets in an automation. The New Row trigger sends each new row to the app, and the Row Updated trigger sends edits to existing rows.

Live Sync or One-Time Import?

Pick one home for the data. If the sheet stays the place people type, connect the New Row and Row Updated triggers so the app follows the sheet. If the app becomes the place people type, import the rows once and stop editing the sheet. You can still push app records back to a sheet for reports with the Insert Row action.

When to Use It

  • Lead sheet to CRM: each new lead row becomes a record with a stage and a follow-up date.
  • Order sheet to fulfillment app: staff mark orders packed and shipped from a phone.
  • Signup sheet to member portal: members see their status without access to the raw sheet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the app update when the sheet changes?

New rows reach the app through the Google Sheets New Row trigger. The Row Updated trigger handles edits to existing rows.

Can I use Google Sheets as the database for the app?

The app keeps its own records in a Taskade project. The Google Sheets triggers and actions copy rows between the sheet and the app, so the sheet can stay your source or become a report.

Do I need AppSheet or Glide for this?

No. Taskade Genesis builds the app from your data, and the Google Sheets connector keeps it fed. Compare the two approaches in Taskade Genesis vs Glide.

Do I need to code?

No. You describe the app in plain words, and Taskade Genesis builds the pages, forms, and dashboard. You edit the result the same way.

Can clients log in to the app?

Yes. App User sign-in works on every plan. A custom domain is available on Pro and up.

How many apps can I build on Free?

Free includes 3 Taskade Genesis apps and starts with no AI credits, so earn credits with referrals and invites or buy a credit pack. Pro is $10/month billed annually and has no app limit.
