To turn an Excel spreadsheet into an app, give the workbook to Taskade Genesis and say what the app is for. Each sheet becomes a table, new rows come in through forms, and totals show on a dashboard. Your team gets one shared link instead of a file that people email around.
Open a live inventory dashboard built from a sheet, or start an Excel-to-app build.
Spreadsheet vs App
| Task | Excel file | Taskade Genesis app |
|---|---|---|
| Add a row | Open the file and find the last row | Fill in a form on any phone |
| Share | Email a copy or share the file | Share one app link |
| See totals | Build a pivot table | Read the dashboard |
| Fields | Everyone sees every cell | Each form shows only the fields it needs |
| Versions | Copies with different dates | One live set of records |
How to Convert Excel to an App
Step 1: Attach the workbook
Attach the .xlsx or CSV file in the Taskade Genesis prompt box and say who uses the app and what they do in it. File uploads need a paid plan. On Free, paste the rows into the prompt instead.
Step 2: Let Taskade Genesis map the sheets
Taskade Genesis maps each sheet to a table and builds forms, filters, and a dashboard from the columns.
Step 3: Check the columns and share
Compare the record count and a few totals with the sheet, rename anything unclear, and share the app link with your team.
Prepare Your Spreadsheet First
A clean sheet gives a clean app. Before you upload:
- Put one header row at the top of each sheet, one column per field.
- Keep one table per sheet, and move notes and subtotals out of the data area.
- Use one format per column: dates as dates, prices as numbers.
- Remove merged cells and blank rows inside the table.
- Name each sheet after what it holds, such as Orders or Clients.
When to Use It
- Inventory sheet to stock app: staff log stock in and out from a phone, and the dashboard shows what to reorder.
- Job tracker to field app: each job becomes a record with a status, an owner, and a due date.
- Client list to CRM: follow-ups and notes sit on each client instead of in a hidden column.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do my Excel formulas carry over?
The AI rebuilds totals, counts, and status logic as app fields and dashboard numbers. It does not copy each formula cell by cell, so check the key numbers against your sheet after the build.
Can I keep editing the data?
Yes. The data lives in a Taskade project. Edit it there or through the app forms, and every view updates.
Can people use the app on a phone?
Yes. The app runs in any phone browser from its link, so staff add rows from the field without opening a spreadsheet.
How many apps can I build on Free?
Free includes 3 Taskade Genesis apps and starts with no AI credits, so earn credits with referrals and invites or buy a credit pack. Pro is $10/month billed annually and has no app limit.
Excel or Google Sheets?
Both work. For a sheet that keeps changing, use Google Sheets to app so new rows reach the app on their own.
Can I ask questions about the spreadsheet instead?
Yes. Use Excel to chatbot to ask about the data in plain words.
