TL;DR: ElevenLabs generates lifelike speech, cloned voices, dubbing and voice agents, and Taskade does not generate audio. Taskade Genesis runs the workflow around ElevenLabs: a script library, a pronunciation glossary, a review board, AI agents that draft scripts, and automations that announce approvals. Use both. Different jobs: ElevenLabs speaks, Taskade runs the pipeline

ElevenLabs and Taskade solve different problems. If you need a voiceover, an audiobook narration, a dubbed video in another language, a cloned brand voice or a phone agent that answers calls, ElevenLabs is the tool. Taskade has no text-to-speech, no voice cloning, no music generation and no voice agents, and it does not try to replace ElevenLabs.

What Taskade replaces is the coordination around the audio. A podcast, course or audiobook team needs a script, an edit pass, a pronunciation list for product names, an approval, a generation step, a quality check and a release date. A voice agent team needs approved call scripts, FAQ answers and escalation rules that change every week. Taskade Genesis holds that work in one workspace, with AI agents that draft and check scripts and automations that move approved work to the next step.

ElevenLabs asks: "How should this line sound?" Taskade asks: "Which line is approved, who voices it, and when does it ship?"

What is ElevenLabs?

ElevenLabs is an AI audio company that describes itself as an AI communication platform. Its products sit in three groups: ElevenCreative for speech, voice design, dubbing, music, sound effects, images and video; ElevenAgents for conversational voice and chat agents; and ElevenAPI for developers. The voice library offers thousands of voices, and Scribe handles speech to text.

ElevenLabs at a glance (verified October 2026): ElevenLabs launched Eleven v4 on September 28, 2026 as its most emotive text-to-speech model, with Eleven v4 Turbo for real-time agents. Both support more than 90 languages. The Free plan includes 10,000 credits a month. The commercial license starts on the paid Starter tier at $6 a month. Annual billing gives two months free. See elevenlabs.io/pricing for current rates.

ElevenLabs does well:

  • Expressive speech with inline direction tags such as [laughs] and [whispers] in Eleven v4
  • Instant and Professional Voice Cloning for a consistent brand or narrator voice
  • Long-form audio, with context stitching that keeps a full audiobook consistent
  • Dubbing that carries the original speaker's performance into other languages
  • ElevenAgents for phone and chat agents, with Eleven v4 Turbo built for low-latency conversation

What is Taskade Genesis?

Taskade Genesis is the AI app builder inside the Taskade workspace. It is built on Workspace DNA: Memory (Projects), Intelligence (AI Agents) and Execution (Automations). Your projects hold the scripts, glossaries and release plans. Your agents read those projects and draft, edit and summarize. Your automations carry approved work forward and write the result back into the workspace.

One prompt to Taskade Genesis can produce a working app: a script intake form, a narration request portal, an episode tracker or a voice agent change log. Every app goes live at a shareable URL, with GenesisAuth email-and-password sign-in on every plan, password protection on Pro and above, and custom domains on Pro and above. Apps that other builders publish sit in the Community Gallery, where you can clone them.

Where audio teams hit limits with a generator alone

ElevenLabs is excellent at the audio. Most of the friction in a voice program happens before generation and after it.

Stage What breaks without a shared workspace How Taskade handles it
Scripts Drafts live in scattered docs, with no single approved version A script library project with one task per episode, chapter or clip
Pronunciation Product names come out wrong and need regeneration A glossary project the scriptwriter agent reads before every draft
Review and approval Sign-off arrives by email and gets lost A Board view with Draft, Edit, Approved, Voiced, QA and Published columns
Credits and budget Regenerations spend credits on unapproved text Generate only what reaches the Approved column
Voice agent content Call scripts change with no record of who approved what A change log project with an owner and a date on every update
Delivery Files go out in email threads A Taskade Genesis portal where each client signs in to review

The credits row matters. ElevenLabs credits are spent per character of generated text, and the cost depends on the model. A clean approval gate before generation means fewer wasted regenerations.

The use-both workflow: an ElevenLabs production hub in Taskade

This setup works for a podcast, a course, an audiobook or a product video voiceover. ElevenLabs stays the voice engine. Taskade runs everything else.

  1. Create a script library project. One task per episode or chapter, with the brief, target length, voice name and final script in the task body. Use a Table view to track language, voice and status.
  2. Add a pronunciation glossary. Keep product names, people and acronyms in a second project, with the spelling and the phonetic note for each one.
  3. Train a scriptwriter agent. Give an AI agent your style guide, the glossary and sample scripts as knowledge. Instruct it to write for the ear, with short sentences and Eleven v4 direction tags where the delivery matters.
  4. Run a review board. Switch to Board view with columns for Draft, Edit, Approved, Voiced, QA and Published. Assign an editor and a due date to every card.
  5. Automate the handoff. When a card moves to Approved, a Taskade automation posts the script to a Slack channel for the producer. Teams on the ElevenLabs API can use the generic HTTP request action to send approved text to ElevenLabs with their own key, and webhooks on Pro and above to receive events back.
  6. Store and deliver. Link each finished file from its card, for example from Google Drive. Agencies can turn the board into a Taskade Genesis review portal. Sign-in confirms who each client is. You match each review record to that login and test the setup with a second account.

For voice agent teams: keep the ElevenAgents call script, approved FAQ answers and escalation rules in a Taskade project. Every change gets an owner, a reviewer and a date before someone updates the agent configuration in ElevenLabs.

Feature-by-feature

Audio generation

  • ElevenLabs generates speech, dubbing, music and sound effects, with Eleven v4, Eleven v4 Turbo and the Flash models.
  • Taskade does not generate audio. Taskade EVE can generate images during a Taskade Genesis build, which helps with podcast cover art and episode thumbnails.

Writing and AI agents

  • ElevenLabs offers a Studio editor for long-form audio projects and ElevenAgents for spoken conversations.
  • Taskade ships AI Agents with built-in tools, persistent memory and custom knowledge. An agent can read the web through search and fetch, summarize research and draft a script series that stays on message. Agents read the web but never drive a browser.

Collaboration and approvals

  • ElevenLabs adds workspace seats from the Scale plan, with 3 seats on Scale and 10 on Business.
  • Taskade offers real-time collaboration on every plan, with multiple project views (List, Board, Table, Mind Map, Docs (Beta), Gantt Chart, Calendar, Actionsheet and Org Chart), comments, assignees and role-based access from Owner to Viewer. Gantt Chart, Actionsheet and Org Chart need a paid plan.

Automation and integrations

  • ElevenLabs offers ElevenAPI with SDKs for developers who build audio into their own products.
  • Taskade includes reliable automations with branching, looping and filtering across 100+ integrations, plus the generic HTTP request action and webhook triggers on Pro and above.

When to choose each

Choose ElevenLabs if:

  • Your deliverable is audio: a voiceover, an audiobook, a podcast read or a dubbed video.
  • You want a cloned brand or narrator voice that stays consistent across languages.
  • You need a voice agent that answers calls in real time with low latency.

Choose Taskade Genesis if:

  • You need one place for scripts, glossaries, approvals, calendars and delivery across every audio and video tool you use.
  • You want AI agents that know your brand and automations that move approved work without manual chasing.
  • You want to ship client portals and internal trackers as live apps, without code.

Use both if: you produce audio on a schedule or run a voice agent. ElevenLabs speaks. Taskade decides what gets voiced, records who approved it and shows where it shipped.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free ElevenLabs alternative for text-to-speech?

Taskade is not one, because Taskade does not generate speech. ElevenLabs' own Free plan includes 10,000 credits a month. Taskade Genesis is the free workspace that runs the scripts, approvals and delivery around that audio.

Can Taskade store my ElevenLabs scripts and voice settings?

Yes. A Taskade project works as a script and prompt library. Each task holds one script, with custom fields for voice name, model, language and status, and an AI agent can search and reuse past scripts.

Does Taskade have an ElevenLabs integration?

There is no native ElevenLabs connector. The generic HTTP request action can call the ElevenLabs API with your own key, and webhooks on Pro and above can receive events.

Is Taskade free?

Yes. The Free Forever plan includes unlimited projects, 2 workspace members, 1 AI agent and 3 Taskade Genesis apps. Free starts with no AI credits. You earn credits with referrals and invites, or buy a credit pack on any plan.

Run the content operation around your audio

ElevenLabs gives every team a voice on demand. Taskade gives the same team the system that decides what the voice says, who signs off and where the audio lands.
